Cognitive & Neurodiversity Assessment with Creyos

Understanding How Your Brain Works: Beyond Labels and Assumptions

Cognition is complex. Attention, memory, processing speed, and executive functioning do not exist in isolation and they certainly do not look the same for everyone.

At Neurokin, we believe that understanding your brain requires more than a checklist of symptoms. It requires looking at the how and why behind your lived experience.

To do this, we utilize Creyos, a validated cognitive assessment platform, to support a deeper, objective understanding of cognitive strengths and challenges within our neurodiversity-affirming evaluations.

We use this tool not to define your limitations, but to map your unique operating system.

Cognitive Insight Adds Context

Cognitive assessment helps us understand how someone processes information—not whether they meet a stereotype. In a neurodiversity affirming practice, data is used to empower, not pathologize.

Cognitive data adds depth to clinical understanding. It helps us see patterns that might not be obvious from symptoms alone, highlighting capabilities that deserve recognition and support.

At Neurokin, we use Creyos cognitive testing to:

Identify strengths alongside challenges: We look for what your brain does well, which is often overlooked in traditional diagnostic models.

Inform personalized care: Your results help us tailor recommendations that align with your specific cognitive profile.

Understanding the Scope and Limitations

To ensure clarity and reduce anxiety, it is important to understand what this tool contributes to your evaluation, and what it does not.

What Creyos Can Do:

It does not diagnose ADHD or Autism on its own. No single test can do that.

It does not measure intelligence. This is not an IQ test, and it does not define your potential.

It does not replace your lived experience. Your history and perspective remain the most critical data points in our neurodiversity cognitive assessment process.

Integrated, Not Isolated

At Neurokin, cognitive assessment for ADHD and autism is never used in isolation. We do not rely on algorithms to tell us who you are.

This integrated approach ensures that evidence-based neurodiversity assessment enhances our understanding without being reductionist.

Your cognitive profile is one piece of the puzzle. Your lived experience is another.

Together, they create a comprehensive, nuanced understanding of who you are and how your brain works.

When used, Creyos results are interpreted alongside:

Cognitive Differences Are Not Deficits

At Neurokin, cognitive testing is framed through a strictly neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based lens.

We focus on how cognitive profiles interact with environments, demands, and supports—rather than labeling them as problems to be fixed. A pattern of executive function challenges does not mean you are broken. It means your brain works differently.

Understanding that difference is the first step toward building strategies that work for you. Cognitive differences are variations, and variations deserve understanding, not judgment.

Is Cognitive Assessment Right for You?

Cognitive assessment using Creyos helps us pinpoint the "why" behind the "what." It may be particularly beneficial if you are:

Interested in a strengths-based evaluation rather than just a list of symptoms.

Cognitive assessment is not necessary for every evaluation.

It is used when clinically appropriate to enhance understanding and support personalized care planning. Your clinician will discuss whether cognitive assessment is recommended for your specific situation.

Your Questions About Creyos & Cognitive Assessment, Answered

  • What is Creyos cognitive assessment?

Creyos is a scientifically validated cognitive assessment platform that evaluates multiple domains of cognitive functioning through interactive, performance-based tasks. Unlike old-fashioned pen-and-paper tests, Creyos is digital and gamified. It measures specific brain functions like attention, memory, executive function, processing speed, and cognitive flexibility. At Neurokin, we use Creyos to provide objective, quantifiable data about how your brain processes information, which supports our comprehensive evaluation and personalized care planning.

  • What cognitive domains does Creyos assess?

Creyos assesses several key cognitive domains that are often relevant to neurodivergent individuals. These include attention and focus (the ability to concentrate and maintain attention over time), memory and learning (the ability to encode, store, and retrieve information), executive functioning (planning, organization, impulse control, and working memory), processing speed (how quickly your brain interprets and reacts to information), and cognitive flexibility (the ability to shift between tasks or mental perspectives).

  • How is Creyos different from IQ testing?

Creyos is fundamentally different from traditional IQ testing. IQ testing attempts to measure overall "intelligence" and is historically used for educational placement or disability determination. Creyos measures specific cognitive domains—the mechanics of how your brain handles tasks. We use it to understand cognitive strengths and challenges in the context of ADHD and Autism evaluation. It is more focused on executive function and processing patterns relevant to neurodiversity, rather than defining your potential or intellect.

  • Does Creyos diagnose ADHD or Autism?

No. Creyos does not diagnose ADHD or Autism on its own. It provides objective data about cognitive functioning that supports clinical understanding, but it is not a diagnostic machine. ADHD and Autism diagnosis requires a comprehensive evaluation that includes clinical interviews, developmental history, observation, and deep consideration of your lived experience. Creyos is one high-quality tool that may be used as part of that comprehensive evaluation to clarify the picture.

  • How long does Creyos assessment take?

A Creyos assessment typically takes between 30 to 45 minutes, depending on which cognitive domains are being assessed and your individual pacing. Because the tasks are interactive and gamified, it does not feel like a traditional, high-pressure test. You can take breaks if needed. Your clinician will explain the process and answer any questions before you begin to ensure you feel comfortable.

  • What do Creyos results tell you?

Creyos results provide objective data about your cognitive functioning across the specific domains tested. The results show your performance relative to age-matched norms, highlighting both your cognitive strengths and your challenges. Crucially, at Neurokin, these results are interpreted by your clinician in the context of your clinical presentation, lived experience, and other evaluation data. We use the results to support an understanding of how your brain processes information, which informs personalized care planning.

  • How are Creyos results used in evaluation?

In a Neurokin evaluation, Creyos results are never viewed in a vacuum. They are interpreted alongside your clinical interviews, your developmental history, your self-reported experiences, and potentially other objective testing like QbCheck. We also integrate a strengths-based evaluation of your coping mechanisms. Your clinician uses all this information together to develop a comprehensive understanding of your cognitive profile. This data helps us move beyond generic advice to provide recommendations that actually fit your brain.

  • Is cognitive assessment necessary for ADHD or Autism diagnosis?

Cognitive assessment is not strictly necessary for all ADHD or Autism diagnoses. It is used when clinically appropriate to enhance understanding, particularly in complex presentations or when differential diagnosis is needed (for example, distinguishing between anxiety and ADHD, or identifying co-occurring conditions). Your clinician will discuss whether cognitive assessment is recommended for your evaluation. Some patients receive a diagnosis without it, while others find the additional insight deeply validating and helpful.

  • What is executive function, and why does it matter?

Executive function refers to the set of cognitive processes that help you plan, organize, initiate tasks, manage working memory, regulate attention, and control impulses. Executive function challenges are the hallmark of ADHD and can also appear in Autism. Understanding your specific executive function profile is important because it helps explain why you might struggle with organization, time management, or task initiation. With that understanding, you can stop blaming yourself and start building strategies that work for your brain.

  • How does Neurokin use cognitive testing in a neurodiversity-affirming way?

Neurokin uses cognitive testing through a strictly neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based lens. We do not use these tests to catalog "deficits" or "impairments." Instead, we focus on how your cognitive profile interacts with your environment, your daily demands, and your support systems. We believe cognitive differences are natural variations, not broken parts. Our goal is to help you understand your cognitive profile so you can advocate for yourself effectively and build a life that accommodates your unique brain.
