Meet Our Practitioners

Care Shaped by Clinical Expertise and Lived Understanding

At Neurokin, who provides your care matters deeply. In a healthcare landscape that often feels impersonal or pathologizing, we have built a team that is different by design.

Our practitioners are selected not only for their advanced clinical training but for their ability to deliver neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based care grounded in genuine respect.

We believe that true expertise requires more than just a textbook understanding of the brain. It requires the ability to listen without judgment, to validate experiences that have often been dismissed, and to see the person behind the diagnosis.

Whether you are seeking an evaluation for yourself or a loved one, you can trust that our team combines the highest standards of clinical rigor with an authentic commitment to affirming neurodiversity.

The Power of Lived Understanding in Clinical Care

We recognize that true understanding often comes from a blend of academic knowledge and personal perspective.

While rigorous clinical training is the absolute foundation of our practice, some of our practitioners also bring their own lived experience with neurodivergence to their work.

We view this lived experience as a highly valuable clinical asset that directly shapes the warmth and culture of our care.

Scaling Values-Driven Care

Neurokin is building a scalable, values-driven care model to meet the growing need for services. We know that the demand for respectful adult ADHD and Autism care far outstrips the supply of qualified providers.

As our practice grows, additional nurse practitioners will be trained to deliver care aligned with Neurokin's specific neurodiversity-affirming philosophy. This growth is intentional and carefully managed.

Every practitioner who joins the Neurokin team shares our commitment to affirming neurodiversity, respecting lived experience, and delivering evidence-based, client-centered care.

We are committed to maintaining the "Neurokin Standard," so that every client receives the same depth, respect, and clinical rigor, regardless of which team member they see.

Your Questions About Our Practitioners & Care Philosophy, Answered

  • Who are Neurokin's practitioners?

Neurokin's care team consists of highly qualified nurse practitioners (NPs) with specialized training in neurodevelopmental health and clinical care. Our practitioners are selected for both their expertise and their demonstrated commitment to neurodiversity-affirming, patient-centered care. We prioritize practitioners who bring authentic understanding of neurodiversity to their work, ensuring that our team reflects the community we serve.

  • What qualifications do Neurokin practitioners have?

Our clinical team consists of board-certified nurse practitioners with extensive backgrounds in complex neurology and psychiatry. They hold specific, advanced certifications in ADHD and Autism assessment and maintain DEA credentials to provide full-scope medical care.

  • What does neurodiversity-affirming care mean?

It is a medical approach that formally recognizes neurodivergence as a natural variation in human brain development. We focus deeply on understanding your lived experience, identifying your inherent cognitive strengths, and providing targeted support rather than attempting to "normalize" your behavior.

  • Do Neurokin practitioners have lived neurodivergent experience?

Yes. Our founder, Karina Campos, was diagnosed with ADHD in her late 30s. This firsthand experience navigating a late-in-life diagnosis directly informs our clinical empathy, shapes the questions we ask during evaluations, and fosters a highly validating environment.

  • What is the Neurokin care philosophy?

Our philosophy rests on four core pillars: You are a natural variation, not a broken system; your diagnosis is a collaborative conversation; your care remains free from restrictive insurance constraints; and we prioritize long-term continuity of care to support you as your life evolves.

  • How does lived experience enhance clinical care?

Lived experience bridges the gap between academic medical knowledge and the authentic human experience. It allows our practitioners to easily recognize subtle masking behaviors, ask highly nuanced questions, and create a profoundly safe space completely free of clinical judgment.

  • Are Neurokin practitioners ADHD or Autism specialists?

Yes. Unlike general practitioners or pediatricians, our clinicians specialize exclusively in how ADHD and Autism present in adults. We heavily focus on complex presentations, high-masking individuals, and the overlapping psychiatric conditions that often accompany undiagnosed neurodivergence.

  • What is strengths-based care?

Traditional medicine focuses entirely on identifying deficits. A strengths-based approach actively identifies and leverages your unique cognitive capabilities—like pattern recognition or hyperfocus—while simultaneously building supportive accommodations for the areas where you experience executive friction.

  • How does Neurokin ensure patient-centered evaluation?

We diagnose alongside you, never to you. We intentionally utilize a private-pay model to ensure we have the necessary time to conduct two-to-three-hour, unhurried evaluations where your personal observations carry as much weight as our objective testing data.
