ADHD Evaluation in California
Comprehensive ADHD evaluation and a personalized care plan for adults in California — designed to give you the diagnostic clarity you've been looking for and a clear path forward with your local prescriber.
Adults in California have growing access to neurodiversity-affirming care, but specialty ADHD evaluation depth remains uneven. Major metros have specialty providers but often with months-long waitlists; areas outside the Bay Area and LA can be specialty deserts.
Neurokin offers a different approach for ADHD adults across California — Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Sacramento, and everywhere in between: a thorough, three-visit evaluation that takes the time required for accurate diagnosis, plus a detailed written care plan that your local PCP or psychiatrist can use to manage your treatment going forward.
In California, we're licensed for evaluation and care planning. Prescribing happens through your local provider — most patients coordinate easily with their existing PCP or psychiatrist using our care plan as the clinical guide.
Same evaluation depth, same clinical work, same written care plan as our Full Care service in NJ and NY. Same price too — $1,650 across three visits. The only difference is who manages your medications afterward.

What's Included for CA Patients
Same comprehensive evaluation we provide in NJ and NY. Different prescribing pathway.
Comprehensive three-visit evaluation
Approximately three hours of clinical time. Visit 1 (~60 min, $550) — ADHD consultation and clinical interview. Visit 2 (~60 min, $550) — neurocognitive assessment. Visit 3 (~60 min, $550) — review and care planning.
Validated assessment tools
ASRS-v1.1 (Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale) and Conners' Adult ADHD Rating Scales. Standardized, validated assessment tools used as part of clinical evaluation.
Cognitive testing with
Creyos when appropriate
Working memory, attention, executive function, and reasoning. Helpful when objective cognitive measurement adds value to the clinical picture.
Objective ADHD testing with QbCheck when appropriate
FDA-cleared computerized continuous performance test. Used selectively when it would clarify the picture — particularly with subtle presentations, diagnostic uncertainty, or when objective documentation is needed.
Detailed written care plan
Diagnostic conclusions, treatment recommendations, executive function strategies, medication recommendations (when applicable), and follow-up cadence guidance. Yours to keep and to share with your local prescriber.
Prescriber coordination support
Our office can communicate directly with your PCP or psychiatrist if questions come up about the care plan. Your local prescriber gets a clinical guide they can confidently work from.
How Coordination With Your Local Prescriber Works
A common question we hear: "Will my PCP actually be willing to prescribe ADHD medications based on your care plan?" In our experience, almost always yes — and here's why.
Your evaluation produces a prescriber-ready care plan
The plan documents your diagnosis using ICD-10 codes, recommends specific medication classes and dosing considerations, and lays out the monitoring guidance any prescriber needs to manage stimulant or non-stimulant medications safely.
You bring the care plan to your existing prescriber
Most adults in California already have a PCP or psychiatrist they see for general care. The care plan gives that prescriber a clinical foundation they can build on — they don't have to reinvent the assessment work.
Your prescriber writes and manages the medications
Your local provider writes prescriptions, schedules medication management follow-ups on their normal cadence, and adjusts as needed. Most prescribers are happy to do this when the underlying assessment work has been thoroughly done.

What if my prescriber pushes back?
If your prescriber is uncertain about working from our care plan, our office can talk to them directly to answer questions or clarify the recommendations. In rare cases where coordination doesn't work, we can also help you find a California-area prescriber who's familiar with this kind of structured handoff. The goal is making sure you actually get the medication management you need — not leaving you stuck.
Who ADHD Evaluation in California Is For
ADHD evaluation at Neurokin is designed for California adults who need comprehensive specialty assessment and a clinically rigorous care plan they can take to their local provider. You might be a good fit if you're:
An adult who suspects ADHD but has never been formally evaluated. Recognizing patterns from your work, relationships, or daily life — and ready for diagnostic clarity.
A previously dismissed adult. Told you "don't have ADHD" by providers who didn't take the time to evaluate properly, or whose criteria didn't fit your presentation.
A late-identified adult. Especially women, AFAB individuals, and high-masking professionals who weren't identified earlier because their presentation didn't match the textbook pattern.
A burnt-out professional. Working in California's high-pressure environments where ADHD-related executive function challenges are amplified by the demands of complex work.
An adult with multiple prior diagnoses. Anxiety, depression, OCD, BPD that didn't fully resolve with treatment — sometimes because ADHD better explains the underlying pattern.
Why California Adults Choose Neurokin
ADHD-specialty focus
Neurokin specializes in adult ADHD, autism, and AuDHD evaluation. Not a general psychiatry practice with ADHD as a side offering — specialty depth on the conditions we treat.
Telehealth flexibility
Full three-visit ADHD evaluation by telehealth from anywhere in California. Particularly valuable for adults whose ADHD makes traditional in-person clinical visits more demanding than they need to be.
Prescriber-ready care plan
A detailed clinical document your local California prescriber can use to manage medications. Our office coordinates directly with your prescriber if needed.
Private-pay model that prioritizes depth
We don't accept insurance — which means longer appointments, deeper evaluations, and time to do the work right. We provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement when applicable.
Pricing for California Patients
Same as our NJ and NY services. Same clinical work, same price.

Follow-up visits with Karina ------ $175 per visit
($150 grandfathered for existing patients in continuous care)
Telehealth follow-ups available if you want to revisit the care plan or coordinate adjustments with your local prescriber. Most California patients don't need ongoing follow-ups once the care plan is in place and their local prescriber is managing medications.

Follow-up visits with Karina ------
$450
For workplace accommodations, university disability services, or formal documentation. Most patients don't need this — your care plan is sufficient for clinical purposes and for coordinating with your local prescriber.
Payment
We accept HSA/FSA cards directly and provide a superbill for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Many California insurance plans (especially those through tech employers and creative industries) have strong out-of-network mental health benefits — typical reimbursement is 40–70% after the out-of-network deductible. Each visit is paid at the visit it covers — no upfront commitment for the full amount.
