Creyos Cognitive Assessment
Validated online cognitive testing platform we use in adult ADHD, autism, and AuDHD evaluation — measuring working memory, attention, executive function, and reasoning across 12 standardized tests.
Creyos (formerly known as Cambridge Brain Sciences) is an online cognitive assessment platform used by clinicians worldwide. The 12 standardized tests measure specific cognitive functions that are particularly relevant to neurodivergent adults — working memory, sustained and divided attention, executive function (planning, mental flexibility, response inhibition), and reasoning.
We use Creyos as part of a comprehensive evaluation when objective cognitive measurement adds clinical value. The results provide objective data alongside clinical interview findings, supporting (not replacing) the diagnostic formulation Karina builds with you.
What Creyos Measures
Twelve standardized tests across four cognitive domains. Each test produces normed data comparing your performance to population averages adjusted for age, education, and other relevant factors.
Working Memory
Tests that measure your ability to hold and manipulate information in short-term memory. Working memory is one of the most reliable cognitive markers for ADHD and is also relevant for autism and AuDHD presentations. Spatial working memory, verbal working memory, and updating tasks are all covered.
Attention
Tests that measure sustained attention (maintaining focus over time), divided attention (managing multiple inputs), and selective attention (filtering relevant from irrelevant information). Attention deficits are core to ADHD, but autistic adults also show distinctive attention patterns that Creyos can measure.
Executive Function
Tests that measure planning, mental flexibility (shifting between tasks or rules), and response inhibition (suppressing impulsive responses). Executive function challenges show up in both ADHD and autism, often with different patterns — Creyos helps differentiate.
Reasoning
Tests that measure verbal reasoning, spatial reasoning, and logical problem-solving. Useful for understanding cognitive strengths alongside challenges — many neurodivergent adults have characteristic reasoning patterns that Creyos can document.
How Creyos Fits Into Our Evaluation
Creyos is a piece of the evaluation, not the whole evaluation. Here's how it fits:
What Creyos does well:
Provides objective cognitive measurement against population norms. Documents specific cognitive strengths and challenges. Generates data that's particularly useful for ADHD evaluation (working memory and executive function patterns) and AuDHD evaluation (the integrated cognitive profile of both neurotypes). Useful for ADA accommodations or formal documentation requiring objective testing.
What Creyos doesn't do:
It doesn't "diagnose" ADHD, autism, or AuDHD — these are clinical diagnoses based on pattern recognition across multiple domains. It doesn't capture sensory experience, social communication patterns, or developmental history. It doesn't account for the masking many late-identified adults have done. The clinical interview captures what the cognitive testing can't.
How we use it:
When a clinical interview suggests cognitive testing would clarify the picture, we use Creyos. The results are interpreted alongside the conversation we've had with you, not as a standalone verdict. If Creyos data and clinical interview findings diverge, we treat that as information — sometimes one or the other better captures what's actually going on, depending on context.
When We Use Creyos
In ADHD evaluation
We use Creyos when objective measurement of a cognitive profile would add clinical value beyond rating scales and clinical interview. Particularly useful for: documenting working memory and executive function patterns characteristic of ADHD; generating objective data for ADA accommodations or workplace documentation; cases with diagnostic uncertainty where rating scales alone aren't conclusive.
In autism evaluation
We use Creyos when cognitive profiling adds clinical depth — autistic adults often have distinctive cognitive patterns (strong reasoning alongside specific working memory or attention challenges, for example) that Creyos can document. Useful for understanding cognitive strengths alongside autism-specific challenges.
In AuDHD evaluation
Creyos is more frequently included for AuDHD because the integrated picture often benefits from objective cognitive data. The interaction between ADHD-related attention and executive function patterns and autism-related reasoning and working memory patterns is itself diagnostic — Creyos helps document this integration.
Practical Details About Creyos Testing
How long does it take?
About 30-40 minutes total to complete the full battery online. Some patients prefer to do it in one sitting; others split it across two sessions if attention or fatigue is a concern.
Where do I take the test?
Online, from your own device. Most patients complete it at home in a quiet space. The platform sends a secure link; results upload directly to Karina's clinical record.
Do I need to prepare?
Take the test when you're well-rested, hydrated, and in a quiet environment. Don't take it when you're sick, severely sleep-deprived, or under acute stress — these affect cognitive performance and can produce results that don't reflect your actual baseline.
Can I retake it?
Yes, if needed. Test-retest reliability is generally good with appropriate spacing between attempts. We don't typically retake unless there's a specific clinical reason to.
How are results delivered?
Karina reviews the results before your next visit and discusses them with you in the context of everything else we've gathered. The integrated picture is what matters; the raw scores alone don't tell the whole story.
Creyos Is Included in Your Evaluation Price
Many specialty practices charge separately for Creyos testing — sometimes hundreds of dollars on top of the evaluation. We don't.
Creyos is included in the price of your evaluation when we use it. ADHD evaluation $1,650. Autism evaluation $2,050. AuDHD evaluation $2,500. That's the full price, including the cognitive testing if it's part of your assessment.

Is Creyos covered by insurance?
Creyos is included in the price of your evaluation at Neurokin — no separate testing fee. As far as insurance goes, we're private-pay across all services and provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Insurance doesn't reimburse Creyos as a separate line item; the cognitive testing is part of the overall evaluation.
How accurate is Creyos?
Creyos has strong psychometric properties for cognitive measurement — validated against population norms with established reliability. Like any cognitive test, results are most accurate when conditions are good (well-rested, focused, not acutely stressed). Karina interprets the results alongside the clinical picture rather than treating them as definitive.
Can Creyos diagnose ADHD or autism?
No. Creyos generates objective cognitive data that informs diagnosis but doesn't replace clinical evaluation. Adult ADHD, autism, and AuDHD diagnoses come from clinical formulation integrating multiple sources — interview, history, rating scales, behavioral observation, cognitive testing. Creyos is one piece of that integrated picture.
What if my Creyos results don't match how I feel?
This happens sometimes — particularly when patients are highly intelligent and have developed effective compensation strategies, when high anxiety affects test performance, or when masking strategies extend into cognitive testing as well. The clinical interview helps interpret what's actually going on. We don't override clinical judgment with test scores or vice versa; we integrate both.
Can I see my Creyos results?
Yes. Karina reviews the results with you during the diagnostic feedback visit (Visit 3 of your evaluation), and copies of the results are part of your clinical record. If you want a written report including Creyos data for ADA accommodations or other formal documentation, the optional comprehensive diagnostic report ($450) includes that.
Is Creyos the same as Cambridge Brain Sciences?
Yes. Creyos is the rebranded name of the Cambridge Brain Sciences cognitive assessment platform, developed at the University of Cambridge and used clinically for over a decade. The science and the tests are the same; the brand changed in 2023.
Do I need a Creyos account?
You'll receive a secure link to access your assessment. Results upload directly to Karina's clinical record — you don't need to maintain an ongoing Creyos account.
Can I take Creyos again later if I want to track my cognitive changes?
Yes. Some patients take Creyos again 6-12 months after starting treatment to assess change in cognitive function. Periodic retesting at $0 is included for active patients; we typically build it into a follow-up visit when there's specific clinical reason to repeat the testing.
