Is this you?

Signs Botox may be worth asking about

Botox is for chronic migraine. These are common reasons adults ask about it.

You have headaches on 15 or more days a month.

At least 8 of those days feel like migraine.

Preventive pills didn't help, or the side effects were too much.

Pain relievers work less and less, or you take them often.

Migraines keep you from work, school, or family.

You want a plan, not just a pill for each attack.

A sudden, severe, or unusual headache needs urgent care. Call 911 or go to the emergency room.

How it works

A preventive treatment, not a quick fix

Botox for migraine uses the same medicine as cosmetic Botox, but in a different way. Small shots in the head and neck block some of the signals involved in migraine pain. Over time, it can lower how often migraines happen.

What it isn't

  • A treatment for occasional headaches
  • A quick fix for one attack
  • Cosmetic Botox
  • Right for everyone

What to expect

  • 31 small shots in 7 areas of the head and neck
  • About 20 minutes per treatment
  • Every 12 weeks, about 4 times a year
  • Full benefit can take two or more rounds
  • Follow-ups to track your headache days
