Signs of AuDHD

When ADHD and autism show up together

AuDHD can feel like a tug-of-war inside your head. Do any of these sound familiar?

You crave routine, but struggle to stick to one.

You want new things, but change wears you out.

You hyperfocus for hours, then can't start simple tasks.

Social time is draining, and you lose track of conversations.

ADHD treatment helped, but didn't explain everything.

You mask all day, and burnout keeps coming back.

AuDHD adults are often diagnosed with one condition years before the other. We look at both from the start.

Why Neurokin

One evaluation for the whole picture

Many AuDHD adults go through two separate evaluations with two different clinicians, often years apart. We evaluate both together, so your diagnosis and your plan make sense as a whole.

Two separate evaluations

  • Two sets of visits to schedule
  • Each clinician sees only half of you
  • Traits blamed on the wrong condition
  • Two plans that may not fit together
  • More time before you get answers

At Neurokin

  • One process for ADHD and autism
  • Objective tests, like QbCheck and Creyos
  • A neurodiversity-affirming approach
  • One written care plan that fits both
  • Ongoing care and prescribing in NJ and NY

How it works

Three visits to a clear AuDHD answer

  1. We listen
  2. We talk about your life, your history, and what's hard right now. You can bring notes, or someone who knew you as a child.
  3. We test
  4. You take objective tests for attention and thinking, like QbCheck and Creyos, plus questionnaires about autistic traits.
  5. We explain everything
  6. You get your results for both ADHD and autism, a written report, and one care plan.

After your evaluation: in New Jersey and New York, we can prescribe and manage your care. In DC, Florida, and California, you take your care plan to your primary care doctor or local specialist.

Questions

AuDHD questions, answered

Don't see your question? Call (908) 215-2331 or send us your question.

  • What is AuDHD?

AuDHD is a word many people use when they are both autistic and have ADHD. It is not a separate diagnosis. It means you meet the criteria for both.

  • How common is it to have both?

Very common. Many autistic people also have ADHD, and many people with ADHD have autistic traits.

  • Why are AuDHD adults often missed?

ADHD and autism can hide each other. For example, ADHD may make you seek new things, while autism makes change hard. Many adults also mask their traits to fit in.

  • Can you evaluate both at the same time?

Yes. Our AuDHD evaluation looks at ADHD and autism in one process, with one report and one care plan.

  • I already have an ADHD diagnosis. Can you check for autism?

Yes. Bring your records. We can focus the evaluation on autism, and look at how both fit together.

  • Can you prescribe medicine?

Yes, in New Jersey and New York. In DC, Florida, and California, your primary care doctor or local specialist prescribes, using our written care plan.

  • Is your approach neurodiversity-affirming?

Yes. Our goal is to understand how your brain works, not to change who you are. Your plan is built around your strengths and your needs.

  • Do you accept insurance?

No, we don’t bill insurance. After each visit, we give you a superbill to send to your insurer. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, you may get some money back. HSA and FSA cards work too.

  • How much does an AuDHD evaluation cost?

You pay one visit at a time, on the day of each visit. The price is the same in every state we serve. See our pricing page for current prices.

  • Can I do my AuDHD evaluation by video?

Yes, in all five states. In New Jersey, you can also come to our Westfield office. For a video visit, you need to be in one of our states at the time of your visit.
