Why adults in California book an autism evaluation
You don't need to be sure you're autistic. These are common reasons adults reach out.
You're tired from masking at work, school, or with friends.
A family member was recently diagnosed, and the traits sound familiar.
You were treated for anxiety or depression, but it didn't explain everything.
You think ADHD may be part of it too, and want both looked at.
You've had trouble finding an adult autism evaluation where you live.
You've always felt different, and want to know why.
We see adults 18 and older. We don't evaluate children or teens.

Your evaluation
Three visits, all by video
- We listen
- By video, we talk about your life now and growing up: relationships, communication, routines, sensory experiences, and interests.
- We assess
- You complete questionnaires and structured assessments, plus Creyos tasks. If ADHD may be part of the picture, we can look at that too.
- We explain everything
- We go over your results in plain language. You get your diagnosis if one fits, a written report, and a care plan.
After your evaluation: you can share your report with your doctors and use it to ask for support at work or school.

Our founder
Founded by a clinician who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult
Karina Campos, APN-BC, founded Neurokin in 2023. She is a board-certified nurse practitioner with more than 10 years of experience.
Karina was diagnosed with ADHD in her late 30s. She knows what it's like to go years without answers. She built Neurokin to give adults the thoughtful, respectful care she wished she'd had. Everything we do follows that standard.

Questions
Adult autism in California: your questions
Don't see your question? Call (908) 215-2331 or send us your question.
Can adults be diagnosed with autism?
Yes. There is no age limit. Many people are diagnosed in their 20s, 30s, 40s, or later.
Is the whole evaluation by video?
Yes. All three visits are by video. You need to be in California at the time of each visit.
Do I need someone who knew me as a child?
It helps, but it is not required. Many adults don’t have that option. We can still do a full evaluation.
What if I’m not autistic?
That is still a useful answer. We will explain what we found and what may help.
Can you help with accommodations?
Yes. Your report can support accommodation requests at work or school. Ask us what your employer or school needs.
What time zone are visits in?
Visits are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern time. That's 6 AM to 2 PM in California.
Can my California doctor use your care plan?
Yes. Your care plan is written so other clinicians can use it. With your permission, we can share it with your primary care doctor or local specialist.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us.
Do you take insurance?
No, we don’t bill insurance. After each visit, we give you a superbill to send to your insurer. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, you may get some money back. HSA and FSA cards work too.
How much does an autism evaluation cost?
You pay one visit at a time, on the day of each visit. The price is the same in every state we serve. See our pricing page for current prices.
