Why adults in DC book an autism evaluation

You don't need to be sure you're autistic. These are common reasons adults reach out.

You're tired from masking at work, school, or with friends.

A family member was recently diagnosed, and the traits sound familiar.

You were treated for anxiety or depression, but it didn't explain everything.

You think ADHD may be part of it too, and want both looked at.

You're a grad student or young professional and want support at school or work.

You've always felt different, even in a city full of high achievers.

We see adults 18 and older. We don't evaluate children or teens.

Your evaluation

Three visits, all by video

  1. We listen
  2. By video, we talk about your life now and growing up: relationships, communication, routines, sensory experiences, and interests.
  3. We assess
  4. You complete questionnaires and structured assessments, plus Creyos tasks. If ADHD may be part of the picture, we can look at that too.
  5. We explain everything
  6. We go over your results in plain language. You get your diagnosis if one fits, a written report, and a care plan.

After your evaluation: you can share your report with your doctors and use it to ask for support at work or school.

Questions

Adult autism in DC: your questions

Don't see your question? Call (908) 215-2331 or send us your question.

  • Can adults be diagnosed with autism?

Yes. There is no age limit. Many people are diagnosed in their 20s, 30s, 40s, or later.

  • Is the whole evaluation by video?

Yes. All three visits are by video. You need to be in DC at the time of each visit.

  • Do I need someone who knew me as a child?

It helps, but it is not required. Many adults don’t have that option. We can still do a full evaluation.

  • What if I’m not autistic?

That is still a useful answer. We will explain what we found and what may help.

  • What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring notes about your daily life, past and present. Old report cards, a list of medicines, and past reports help too.

  • I'm a student in DC. Can you help with school accommodations?

Yes, if you are 18 or older. After your evaluation, you get a written report. Ask us what your school's disability services office needs.

  • What if I live in Maryland or Virginia but work in DC?

You need to be in DC at the time of each video visit. If you can join from your DC workplace, that works. Call us if you're not sure.

  • Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with us.

  • Do you take insurance?

No, we don’t bill insurance. After each visit, we give you a superbill to send to your insurer. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, you may get some money back. HSA and FSA cards work too.

  • How much does an autism evaluation cost?

You pay one visit at a time, on the day of each visit. The price is the same in every state we serve. See our pricing page for current prices.
